Show staff that you are committed to assisting them to excel
in all aspects of their job and growing their career in the
organisation. The appraisal review involves a review of the previous
year and planning for the coming year. Key to the review is
implementing a development plan which takes into consideration
their career aspirations.
The key objectives of the appraisal
review are –
- To clarify areas of responsibility and expectations
- To review individual performances aligned with the
organisation’s core values, goals and objectives
- To provide feedback on performance and guidance on how
performance can be improved
- To ensure that their development plan is linked to
their goals and the organisations goals with the primary
objective being to maximise their potential
Prior to the meeting with staff ensure that they understand the
process. This will include agreeing a meeting time and completing
a self assessment form. The form will be used to accurately assess
their performance.
During the appraisal review meeting issues to
be covered include –
- Job description and key areas of responsibility
- Review of the previous year’s performance measured against objectives
- Overall performance rating
- Objective setting for the year ahead
