ERB Monitor 11

September 2011

Editorial

Welcome to the third ERB Monitor edition for 2011, the e-newsletter of the Community Sector Employers Forum (CSEF) keeping you informed on essential employment law issues.

In this edition we look at some of the important HRM issues of the day which need to be considered by managers. The first article looks at the Health & Safety risks in an office environment. It is important for employers to understand that a low risk situation is not a no risk situation. This article examines the typical hazards that can exist in a general office environment.

The second article looks at the issue of allocating holidays in the peak summer months. This article looks at some difficulties that can arise when too many employees request annual leave at the same time.

The third article asks the question should we have a mobile phones policy in our workplace and how should it be implemented.

The fourth article examines the issue of Pregnancy at work. This continues tobe a big issue in this country and we have highlighted some of the many cases that wind up in the labour court.
